Students love to celebrate holidays and have decorations. So I like to bring in a little joy in my classroom by decorating our classroom door every month. Students look forward to the monthly theme. And for the month of April, I love using easter bunny classroom door decorations.

I use my students’ names in the decorations. This helps build a positive community in our classroom. Students love to see their names. It helps them feel like they are a special part of our class. If I want to help students do their best work, I include their work in the easter bunny classroom door decorations. So today I’m sharing easter classroom door ideas that you and your students love.

Easter Bunny Classroom Door

Spring is a fun time for students. The kids had a lot of inside time during the winter months. The days were cloudy and gloomy. But in spring, the sun is finally coming out and bright colors are popping up everywhere. So with my easter bunny classroom door decorations, I include bright colors. The bunny clipart I use looks like bunny Peeps candy. So I used the colors of Peeps candy. It is so bright and fun!

I type my students’ names on the bunnies, cut them out, and hang them up. But you could also have students color their bunny and have them cut the bunnies out. This gets students a little more involved with these easter classroom door decorations.

My 2nd grade students love a good word pun. So I included one in this classroom door display. Bunnies hop, and I want my students to be happy in second grade. Hoppy sounds close to happy. So I post a sign that says, “Hoppy to be in second grade.” Students laugh and smile as I tell them the pun. Plus, I love how it helps students think positively. I even turn it into a little SEL lesson. I’ll share more about that later on.

To go with the sign, I add a banner underneath. This brings in some more bright colors and ties everything together. I also have a version with little easter eggs on the banner. Find that here.

When students see this Easter bunny classroom door display for the first time, they love searching through the bunnies to find their names. It helps remind students that they are a part of our classroom. That our class would be so different without them. Students feel that they are special enough to have their name on our classroom door. This helps build a positive classroom community.

You can create variations of this. Instead of a sign that says, “Hoppy to be in second grade” I have signs for each grade up through 6th grade. If you don’t want to do the sign, you can print out the letters to “We are hoppy!” and cut them out to hang up. This would also look really great if you decide to use this idea as an easter bunny bulletin board display. The letters will really stand out. Find the printable letters to “We are hoppy!” here.

You can also get students more involved with these easter bunny classroom door decorations by turning it into a little writing project and SEL lesson. Since being happy is a feeling, you can have a social emotional learning lesson on different feelings and emotions.

Here’s what this lesson could look like. Display some pictures where people look happy, sad, tired, and mad. Then tell a story of a time you felt one of those emotions and have students guess which emotion you were feeling. Continue this for all the emotions you have displayed.

Then have students share times they may have felt one of those emotions. After that you could read a story book that helps teach about different emotions. You could read “I Feel Silly & Other Moods That Make My Day” by Jamie Lee Curtis. Or another good book is “In my Heart: A Book of Feelings” by Jo Witek. As you read these books, have students think about what things in second grade (or whatever grade you teach) makes them happy.

After reading, have students raise their hands and share the things that make them happy. Maybe it is having a nice 2nd grade teacher. Or maybe it is being able to play with their friends at recess. It might be doing Fun Friday, or doing your class parties. List these ideas up on the whiteboard.

Then have students complete the writing project. Students finish the sentence to “I am hoppy because…” I like to challenge my students by having them pick two or three things and have them list them in their sentence with the needed commas.

After students finish their sentence, they color the little bunny clipart on their paper. Then they cut their paper out on the border. I like to make these look a little more fancy by putting a pink or yellow border around them with construction paper. When you hang them up on the door or bulletin board it makes them look really nice. Find this writing project here.

I love doing the extension activity with my students because it makes these easter classroom door decorations more interactive for students. They do their best work because they know it is going to be displayed on our classroom door.

I hope these Easter classroom door decoration ideas have helped you see how you can make things simple yet fun for yourself and your students in the month of April. There are many ways you can use these Easter bunny classroom door decorations. Simply put your students’ names on the bunnies or have them complete a little writing project. Hang up the sign and banner to complete the look. Find these decorations to use in your classroom here.
